The Houston Police Department Organization of Spanish Speaking Officers (HPD O.S.S.O.) Scholarship Program, provides a minimum of at least ten (10) $500.00 Scholarships a year to qualifying students who are interested in furthering their education. The committee is comprised of volunteers who donate their time so students may further their education.

The committee conducts fundraisers and accepts donations from sponsors to fund the scholarship program. Our scholarship program is unique in that it is offered to members of the Houston Police Department, their families and friends. It is open to any student who meets the qualifications and requirements set forth by the Scholarship Committee. The scholarship committee has the final decision on all selections.

The Scholarships are awarded based on financial needs, and at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee’s recommendation. It is an award that is applied towards the payment of tuition and fees for selected applicants. Scholarships are awarded only after the applicant has been accepted as a student in an institution of higher learning.

Once the applicant has been notified by the Committee Chairperson that he/she is an award recipient, the applicant must contact the O.S.S.O. treasurer and provide receipts for expenses incurred and proof of enrollment four weeks after first day of class. This must be done within one year of receiving the award.
